CROCHET SHRUGS & CO.
Last year I had the pleasure of connecting with Veronika Hug - a German knitting, crochet, knooking and tunisian crochet designer, blogger, YouTube star and publisher of several magazines and books. She also has her own yarn collection called Woolly Hugs. Now, she has been working hard on authoring her last book called „Crochet Shrugs & Co.“, that is being released on February 1st by OZ Verlag.
It is a book with 13 colorful crochet designs for both, beginner and advanced crocheters. All projects are made in bright colors of Woolly Hugs yarns “Cloud”, “Sheep”, "Bobbel Cotton", "Bandy Wish", "Bobbel Mohair", "Sheep Color" and include full pattern instructions and crochet diagram charts. You can look inside Veronika’s new book HERE. But notice that some pages are omitted from this book preview.
When Veronika’s new book arrived in the mail, I was immediately impressed by the beautiful and inviting photography. And surprise, surprise, I’ve been published in this book as a guest designer!!!
I am so happy picking up this book and seeing my crochet design in it! It’s such an honour that my Granny Square Shrug was featured on pages 16, 17 and 18 as “Gray-Granny Shrug”. Thank you so much for letting me be a part of it!
Veronika did a great job with the bright Images, wonderful lay-outs and lovely project ideas. It was such a marvellous opportunity for me to get a taste of having my work published in a crochet book and how much hard work goes into it.
If you love working with Veronika’s yarns and like her patterns check out this brand new book!
You can order your own hard copy of “Crochet Shrugs & Co.” on Amazon HERE.
Below you will find a short collection of Veronika's books.
You can also find some of her patterns in English on CrazyPatterns HERE.
It is a pleasure to collaborate with Veronika, and I was absolutely over the moon to be featured as one of the “Members&People” of the month on her blog last year, in which she gets to know fellow crafters. Thank you for the wonderful feature. Read the interview HERE.
I am so thankful for each and every feature that I get and I see each one as another opportunity to share my love of crochet with new people.
When I quickly read through Veronika’s "Gray-Granny Shrug" pattern I was happy by its simplicity as the construction is simply one square folded in half and then seamed along the sides while leaving arm holes – not other attachments are necessary.
So, I decided to give this shrug a try!
I wanted to use another kind of yarn and so I took 400 g of CASHSILK by LANA GROSSA in white. This very cool summer yarn is really soft and elegant with 40 % Polyamide, 30 % Bamboo, 15 % Silk, 15 % Cashmere and I absolutely loved the color that I knew would give my shrug a wonderful look. You can also find this yarn HERE.
Veronika’s pattern allows you to make your shrug long enough to cover your rear. I was incredibly excited to try on my new crocheted piece and I’m really happy with how the sizing of the shrug turned out.
The design I crocheted for Veronika is a bit different then my new white one as I only wanted to work the collar in rows of front post double crochets. I am so delighted with how quick and easy it is to crochet a beautiful, chunky shrug.
Here some more pics for you.
Enjoy making your own Granny Square Shrug and let me know how it goes! meeCrochet
